(around 35 euros per bottle)
Radiant bottle of white glass, uncluttered and luxurious.
Elegant bead of bubbles.
Endless perfumed universe, source of an intense pleasure.
Scents of apricot and raisin, candied citrus fruits, apple, pear and hazelnut, deliciously iodized and mentholated, signatures of the Chardonnay, exclusive varietal of the cuvée.
The maturity of the Champagne is then unveiled with its generous hints of honey and caramel, result of 4 years of ageing on laths of the bottles before disgorgement.
Pure opening, definitely thanks to the careful selection of the first juices during the pressing of the grapes, reinforced by a minimalist dosage with only 2 g/L of sugar added at disgorgement.
The mouth becomes sensual, between joyful tension and minerality of the chalk.
Warm finish, punctuated by spices, definitely the characteristic sign of the fulfillment of the malolactic fermentation and of the perfectly controlled ageing of 70% of the base wines (from the harvest in 2009) in young oak barrels (2 to 3 years old) from Meursault.
Remarkable length on the palate.
To compose this Cuvée La Marquise Blanc de Blancs, Arnaud Berthelot, wine grower, was able to select and vinify with talent the best grapes of his plot “Les Grains D’Argent”, in 2009 (70%) and 2010 (30%), established at mid-slope in the Premier Cru terroir of Dizy.
To taste from aperitif to meal, with scallops, vanilla and sorrel, for example.
Fifth generation of wine growers settled in Dizy, the Champagne House Paul Berthelot cultivates with love its vineyard of 16 hectares, mainly composed of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir (in equivalent quantities), spread over the Grand Cru of Aÿ and the Premiers Crus of Dizy and Avenay-Val-d’Or, with the grape quality and the respect of the environment as priorities. An inspired oenology allow to produce and market a range of highly expressive Champagnes.
