Champagne Deutz – Cuvée William Deutz 1999

Guide VERON des Champagnes 2013

(around 115 Euros per bottle)

Mythical Champagne

Founded in 1838, the Champagne House of Deutz has grown over generations. Located in Aÿ with property extending across 42 hectares of vineyard, it understands how to develop its own production technique with due regard to champenois traditions.

An emblematic bottle with a luxurious label.

Appearance :

  • Intense gold
  • Fine and abundant perlage
  • Bright and crystal clear

·

Nose :

  • Fabulous, alluring complexity together with rare elegance, the result of perfectly blending 3 champenois varietals
  • Delicious buttery, brioche-like, roasted aromas together with honey and beeswax, caramel, blond tobacco, expressions of the exceptional maturity obtained with patient ageing sur lattes (12 years)
  • Opening with delicate notes of candied citrus fruit, peach, pear, apricot and raisin, evidence of the 25% Chardonnay
  • Left to breathe it reveals a hint of delicately spicy red fruits and plum, expressed by the 10% Pinot Meunier

Palate :

  • Mighty and enveloping, dense and voluptuous, almost winy, thanks to the 65% Pinot Noir, bolstered by elegant minerality
  • Harmonious effervescence
  • A delicious, endless finish, with exotic fruit, peach and exquisite toasted hints
  • Exceptional length on the palate

With this Cuvée William Deutz 1999, the Chef de Cave Michel Davesne, signs his name to Champagne with strong personality, well defined and harmonious, an unforgettable interpretation of a superb 1999.

Perfect as an aperitif with fresh foie gras on a bed of spiced bread, it will equally delight your taste buds with Sole a la meunière.
