Champagne Deutz – Brut Classic

Guide VERON des Champagnes 2013

(around 35 Euros per bottle)

Founded in 1838, the Champagne House of Deutz has grown over generations. Situated in Aÿ with property extending across 42 hectares of vineyard, it has understood how to develop its production technique with due regard to champenois traditions.

The bottle is both original and luxurious.

Appearance :

·        Intense gold

·        Fine and light perlage

·        Elegant and persistent bead

Nose :

·        Exuberant complexity, thanks to a third of each of the three champenois varietals used in the blending, obtained by selecting from 20 to 30 Cru

·        Generous at first nose, with notes of butter, caramel, brioche and pastries, lightly toasted, obtained thanks to lengthy ageing sur lattes of the bottles (2 and a half years), perfectly managed by Michel Davesne, Chef de Cave of the Champagne House of Deutz

·        The nose then reveals an exhilarating aromatic compilation, which mixes lemon, grapefruit, hazelnut, walnut, white flowers, plum, sour cherry and cinnamon

Palate :

·        The attack is marked by extreme tension, together with good minerality

·        The palate then expresses full depth, thanks to malolactic fermentation

·        Gentle effervescence

·        Deliciously acidulous finish with a hint of walnut and pepper

·        Remarkable length on the palate

With this Brut Classic, the Champagne House of Deutz presents excellent traditionally blended Champagne of unforgettable personality. The 20% content of reserve wine guarantees the uniformity of its quality.

Ideal as an aperitif, equally ideal during a meal with fish such as Salmon steak smothered in sorrel sauce.
