Champagne René Gué – Brut Blanc de Blancs

Guide VERON des Champagnes 2013

(around 13 Euros per bottle)

Located in Chouilly, with 6 hectares of vineyard area, the Champagne House of René Gué produces and sells around 30,000 bottles per year, obtained exclusively from Chardonnay.

A classic and simple look.

Appearance :

·        Pale gold with green glints

·        Fine perlage

·        Well-defined, persistent bead of bubbles

·        Limpid and bright

Nose :

·        Elegant and alluring, the signature of Chardonnay, sole vine of the Cuvée

·        At the first nose it reveals aromas of brioche and pastries, together with delicate notes of caramel, almost roasted highlighting the maturity of this Cuvée, the result of lengthy ageing sur lattes of the bottles, carefully controlled by Philippe Gué, the producer

·        Left to breathe, you are rewarded with delicious nuances of citrus fruits (lemon, grapefruit, clementine), enriched by white flowers, hazelnut and almond

Palate :

·        A marked attack, swiftly complimented by a enveloping, smooth roundness, almost creamy, thanks to a meticulous malolactic fermentation process and appropriate dosage, with 10g/L of sugar added at disgorgement

·        Subtle effervescence

·        Deliciously mineral finish

·        Good length on the palate

Excellent value for money, this Brut Blanc de Blancs by the Champagne House of René Gué reveals all the potential of the great terroir of Chouilly, classified as grand cru.

Ideal as an aperitif, equally perfect with any meal in good company, with first courses or seafood dish.
