Champagne Joseph Desruets – Brut Tradition

Guide VERON des Champagnes 2013

(around 14 Euros per bottle)

Founded in 1898, the Champagne House of Joseph Desruets passionately cultivates 3 hectares of vineyard divided over the hillsides of Hautvillers, and produces Champagne according to the rules of local tradition.

A classic look. Beautiful bottle adorned with a photograph.

Appearance :

·        Golden

·        Fine perlage

·        Delicate bead of bubbles

·        Intense brightness

Nose :

·        Intense and elegant

·        The first nose is marked by chocolate, toasted bread, roasted coffee and pastries, signs of the good maturity of this Cuvée, the result of carefully controlled ageing sur lattes

·        Developing towards notes of candied citrus fruits (grapefruit, lemon), apple and pear, an expression of the 33% Chardonnay

·        Left to breathe, you are rewarded with delicious scents of red fruits and kirsch, expressed by the 33% Pinot Noir and 33% Pinot Meunier

Palate :

·        A lively attack, amazing minerality, with the citrusy aromas already perceived by the nose

·        Remarkable presence, combined with a full structure and delicious and amazing astringency, the result of a particular grape pressing strategy using a centuries-old traditional Darcq Flamain press, adding 5 to 10% of the second press wine to the free run wine (cuvée).

·        Steady effervescence

·        Deliciously spicy finish (pepper)

·        Good length on the palate

This Champagne Brut Tradition by the Champagne House of Joseph Desruets, traditionally produced, with manual riddling and disgorgement on the spot, reveals a very distinct and alluring personality, almost virile.

Drink as an aperitif, but above all during a meal, to accompany a first course or even poultry.
