Champagne Fleury - Fleur de l’Europe Brut Nature

Guide VERON des Champagnes 2019

(around 32 euros per bottle)
Organic champagne

Sober and bright bottle.

Aspect:

Golden, intense and brilliant.

Festive waltz of fine bubbles.

Reserved bead of foam.

Generous tears.

Nose:

Powerful and harmonious, it takes us into a whirl of pleasure.

The majority of Pinot Noir (85%) establishes itself, remarkable, with its heady scents of candied red and black fruits and kirsch, underlined by outstanding touches of spices.

Later, the delicate notes of apple, pear and citrus fruits unveil all the elegance of the Chardonnay (15%) before to release exciting aromas of honey and beeswax, barely roasted, expressions of the great maturity of the champagne, result of 4 years of ageing on laths of the bottles before riddling and disgorgement.

Palate:

Lively tension at the opening, highlighted by the vertiginous minerality and transcended by the absence of dosage (no sugar added at disgorgement).

The mouth is revealed, deep and sensual, coupled with subtle woody notes obtained by the passage of 56% of the reserve wines in oak casks.

Dense finish, perfectly balanced.

Remarkable length on the palate.

For this cuvée Fleur de l’Europe Brut Nature, first champagne from a vineyard cultivated according to the biodynamy principles, Jean-Sébastien Fleury accompanied grapes harvested by hand, at perfect ripeness, in 2013 (65%) and 2012 (35%), to let burst out their true nature.

To taste during a meal, with a loin of pork cooked for 16 hours and celery risotto, for example.

Driven by a strong willingness to respect nature and soil life, faithful to the ecological values of their father Jean-Pierre Fleury, first champenois wine grower converted to biodynamy in 1989, Jean-Sébastien, Morgane and Benoît Fleury cultivate with care their 15 hectares vineyard, certified Ecocert, Demeter and Biodyvin. A gentle and inspired œnology, with respect for cosmic rhythms, gives birth each year to around 200,000 bottles of a range of rare champagnes.
