Guide VERON des Champagnes 2015
(approximately 34 euros
a bottle)
Biodynamic Champagne certified by Demeter
Established in 1872, the Champagne Leclerc Briant is reorganizing. The new team wishes to perpetuate the values defended by Pascal Leclerc Briant who passed away in 2010. Relying on its vineyard carefully farmed in biodynamy, the domain produces and markets every year approximately 150,000 bottles of high-quality Champagnes.
Original, sober and modern, very successful
presentation.
Visual aspect:
·
Pale gold colour, gleaming.
·
Festive effervescence.
·
Fine bubbles.
·
Refined and persistent bead of bubbles.
Nose:
·
Intense and generous straightaway, with a remarkable
complexity thanks to the alcoholic fermentation of the base wines realised by
the indigenous yeasts of the terroir, with delicate aromas of fresh citrus
(lemon and grapefruit), white flowers, apple, pear, peach and apricot, inimitable
signatures of the Chardonnay.
· Then the nose is slowly revealing, with intoxicating scents of grilled chestnuts, raisins, butter and brioche, then honey and gingerbread, translations of the great maturity of the Champagne obtained by 3 years of ageing on laths of the bottles before manual riddling and disgorgement.
Palate:
·
Dense, deep and balanced at first taste, with an
intense vivacity, maybe the result of the meticulous selection of the first
juices (cuvée) during the soft pressing of grapes.
·
The effervescence at the same time vivid and silky
underlines the peculiar minerality, unique mark of the soil of the plot La Croisette,
exclusive property of the house, harvested in 2009, pressed and vinified
separately.
·
Delicious
tangy finish.
· Remarkable length on the palate.
