Mythical Champagne

Last great house of Champagne of Châlons-en-Champagne, founded in 1825, the Champagne Joseph Perrier, family company, was equipped with a modern production tool to better perpetuate the traditional know-how. It relies on its vineyard of 21 hectares (among which 9 hectares at Cumières) to develop and market 700,000 bottles of quality Champagnes every year.

Inimitable presentation: the absolute elegance.

Visual aspect:

 

·        Golden, light and glittering.

·        Particularly fine bubbles.

·        Delicate bead of bubbles.

 

Nose:

 

·        Captivating, it offers an inimitable aromatic landscape, infinite and sensual.

·        Moving fragrances of citrus, butter, white flowers, exotic fruits (apricot, mango and pineapple) and mint, signatures of the dominant Chardonnay (52%).

·        Perfect maturity, with generous scents of honey, caramel, harmoniously roasted, result of eight years of patient ageing on laths of the bottles.

·        Later, the Pinot Noir is revealing, blooming, with notes of red fruits (cherry, blackcurrant, raspberry), coupled with delicate spices.

 

Palate:

 

·        Pure first taste, thanks to the meticulous selection of the first juices (cuvée), more lively, during pressing, sustained by a moving minerality, maybe that, particular, of the Chardonnays of the house’s vineyard in Cumières, but also that of the selected Premier and Grand Crus (Chouilly, Mailly-Champagne, Cumières, le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Sacy).

·        Then the palate opens up on a sensual and warm roundness, with a rare density.

·        Fabulous finish.

·        Impressive length on the palate.

 

With this Joséphine 2004 cuvée, Claude Dervin, cellar master of the Champagne Joseph-Perrier since 1988, following his father and his grandfather who begun in 1943, offers a beautiful interpretation of a 2004 year with late harvest.

 

To taste during a gastronomic meal, with a just fried Thornback ray, for example.
