Champagne Diogène Tissier et Fils – Vintage 2006

Guide VERON des Champagnes 2015

(approximately 20 euros)

Wine growers in Chavot-Courcourt since 1931, the champagne Diogene Tissier et Fils relies on its 9 hectare vineyard spread over 9 districts, composed of 56% of chardonnay, 37% of pinot meunier and 7% of pinot noir, cultivated in respect of the environment. An attentive vinification of the plots gives birth to 110 000 flasks of champagnes of character each year, sold exclusively to private individuals, at the property.

Sober and original presentation. Special flask and colourful cap, decorated with the logo of the company.

Visual aspect :

  • Golden, luminous.
  • Fine and dyninamic bubbles.
  • Persistent bead around the flute.

Nose :

  • Mouth watering, it reveals itself progressively.
  • Generous wooden scent, result of the ageing of 50% of the base wines in oak vats crafted by Jerome Viard (barrel-maker in Champagne-Ardennes).
  • The pinot noir from Barbonne-Fayel (30%) and the pinot meunier from Chavot-Courtcourt (20%) then reveal themselves with scents of crystallised red fruits (strawberry and raspberry), ever so lightly spiced.
  • Scents of apple, pear and citrus fruits, delicately iodized and mentholated, signatures of the chardonnay (50%), harvested in the Barbonne-Fayel regions as well as in the Celle-sous-Chantemerle regions.

Palate :

  • Attack blessed by remarkable tension, allowed by the selection of the first juice (cuvee), purest, during the pressing of the grapes, accompanied by a delightful minerality.
  • The palate then becomes carnal thanks to the batonnage of the lees every 15 days during the ageing in casks, but mainly, expression of the great maturity of the vintage obtained by 6 years of ageing in bottles on laths before disgorgement.
  • Dense finish, almost structured.
  • Very great length in the mouth.

With this Vintage 2006, producer Vincent Hubert knew how to select its best plots, to give us a remarkable interpretation of the year 2006.

To enjoy during a meal, to accompany a pissaladiere of snails, for example.
