Champagne Rogge Cereser - Cuvée Excellence

Guide VERON des Champagnes 2017
(around 16 euros per bottle)

Original and careful presentation.

Aspect:

Golden, decorated with reserved green glints.

Fine bubbles.

Refined bead of foam.

Nose:

Radiant and complex, it immediately provides gentle emotions.

Joyful aromas of red and black fruits (cherry, blackcurrant, blackberry, raspberry and blueberry), punctuated by delicate spices, signatures of the Pinot Noir (60%).

The Chardonnay (40%) is then slowly revealed with its scents of citrus fruits, apple, pear, exotic fruits and white flowers, supported by an iodized and mentholated life-giving breath.

Palate:

Balanced opening.

Lively vigour obtained by the rigorous selection of the first juices (coeur de cuvée), very pure, during the pressing of the grapes.

Sensual presence coupled with hints of honey and caramel, translation of the judicious fulfillment of the malolactic fermentation of the base wines and of the maturity of the cuvée obtained by 3 years of ageing on laths of the bottles before disgorgement.

Deliciously acidulous finish, highlighted by the creamy effervescence.

Great length on the palate.

With this Cuvée Excellence, Benjamin Rogge, its producer, was able to select with care its best grapes, in 2012, and to vinify them tenderly with a low dose of SO2, and an accurate dosage (8 g/L of sugar added at disgorgement) to offer us a remarkable interpretation of the Passy-Grigny terroir.

To taste from aperitif to meal, with a veal fillet and prawns with potatoes, for example.

Settled in Passy-Grigny since 1982, in the heart of the Marne Valley, the Champagne House Rogge Cereser cultivates its vineyard of 10 hectares, composed of the three champenois varietals (Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay), in the greatest respect of the environment. Benjamin Rogge contributes with his dynamism since 2000, to produce and market around 70,000 bottles of highly expressive Champagnes per year, under the brand created by his parents, Martine and Jacques, in 1997.
