Guide VERON des Champagnes 2017
(around 32 euros per bottle)
Original and luxurious presentation.
Golden and bright.
Elegant corolla of bubbles.
Radiant, source of intense emotions.
Generous aromas of red and black fruits (strawberry, raspberry, blackcurrant and blackberry), punctuated by delicate spices, delicious signatures of the Pinot Noir, exclusive varietal of the cuvée, carefully selected in the best plots of the wine estate.
Later, the cuvée reveals its maturity with scents of honey and pastries, barely roasted, obtained by three years of ageing on laths of the bottles before disgorgement in the deep cellars of the House.
Dense opening, highlighted by the heady minerality.
The mouth reveals an improbable balance between finesse obtained by the selection of the first juices (cuvée) during the pressing of the grapes, reinforced by the adjusted dosage with only 3 g/L of sugar added at disgorgement, and the reserved power supported by a silky structure.
Warm finish, thanks to the judicious fulfillment of the malolactic fermentation of the base wines.
Remarkable length on the palate.
With this Cuvée Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru Extra Brut only produced during the best years, Eric and Bruno Vesselle were able to compose a rare Champagne, unforgettable interpretation of the Pinot Noir on his preferred terroir, the Bouzy Grand Cru.
To taste from aperitif to meal, to accompany a sweetbread and truffle mashed potatoes, for example.
Georges Vesselle, creator of the eponymous Champagne House in 1951, is joined by his two sons, Eric and Bruno, in 1993. Driven by the same passion of Champagne, they cultivate with love their vineyard of 17 hectares, composed of 21 plots settled at mid-slope in the Bouzy Grand Cru, planted with 90% of Pinot Noir and 10% of Chardonnay. An accurate and traditional oenology gives birth to around 200,000 bottles of Champagnes with personality per year.
