Original and sober
bottle.
Aspect:
Golden and brilliant.
Very fine bubbles.
Bead of scattered
bubbles, eminent.
Nose:
The nose slowly reveals
its harmonious and endless aromatic score, thanks to the very low dosage of
SO2.
Generous aromas of
pastries and roasted coffee, barely spicy, expressions of the splendid maturity
of the cuvée obtained by three
ageing: in barrels for 12 months, in solera (continuous blending for 15 years),
and then on laths before disgorgement for around 4 years.
Later, scents of candied
red fruits, signatures of the majority of black varietals (Pinot Noir and
Meunier) mingle with the elegance of the Chardonnay.
Palate:
Gourmet and balanced
opening, glorified by the bright minerality of the terroirs of Mardeuil, Damery and Fleury-la-Rivière.
The mouth becomes
radiant, deep and sensual, with subtle woody notes, translation of the
vinification of the base wines in oak barrels, before delicate clarification
with fish glue.
Lively finish, obtained
by the selection of the purest juices during the pressing of the grapes,
reinforced by the adjusted dosage with only 4 g/L of sugar added at
disgorgement.
Remarkable length on the
palate.
For this Extra Brut
Cuvée Caractères, Philippe Gamet was able to compose the inspired blending terroirs, vintages and varietals to
offer us a touching Champagne.
To taste as an aperitif,
but especially during meals among friends, with a quail stuffed with foie gras and its truffled chestnut
soup, for example.
From a wine growers
family, Fabienne and Philippe Gamet, soon joined by their children Marianne and
Jean-François, founded the Champagne House Philippe Gamet in 1992, in Mardeuil.
Driven by the real desire to reduce the environmental footprint, and being
certified Haute Valeur Environnementale, they cultivate with care their
vineyard of 8.20 hectares to produce with passion around 80,000 bottles of
authentic Champagnes per year, under the brand created in 1993.
