Champagne Veuve Clicquot - Vintage 2012

Guide VERON des Champagnes 2020

(around 50 euros per bottle)

Harmonious bottle, decorated with the « Clicquot yellow » ribbon, distinctive sign of the vintage champagnes of the brand.

Aspect:

Golden and brilliant.

Fine bubbles.

Fine bead of foam.

Nose:

Endless harmony of heady fragrances.

The Pinot Noir (51%), chosen in the Grands Crus and Premiers Crus of the Mountain of Reims and Marne Valley (Verzy, Verzenay, Ludes, Ambonnay, Bouzy, Tauxières, Avenay-Val-d'Or and Aÿ), and the Meunier (15%), selected in the Mountain of Reims (Ludes) and the Marne Valley (Dizy), establish themselves with delicious scents of red and black fruits, underlined by the elegance of the Chardonnay (34%) from the Côte des Blancs (Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Vertus), with its notes of nice ripe white fruits and citrus fruits.

Palate:

Remarkable balance, at the opening.

Gourmet power, coupled with gentle toasted and roasted touches, revelations of the great maturity of the champagne obtained by 6 years of patient ageing on laths of the bottles, enhanced by a subtle woody breath thanks to the vinification and the ageing of the base wines in oak casks.

Rare length on the palate.

For this Vintage 2012, 66th vintage since the creation of the first one in Champagne by Mrs Clicquot in 1810, Dominique Demarville, cellar master of the Champagne house Veuve Clicquot, signs an unforgettable interpretation of this exceptional year 2012.

To taste from aperitif to meal, with a roasted partridge and figs, for example.
