Champagne Roger Manceaux - Brut Rosé

Guide VERON des Champagnes 2020

(around 21 euros per bottle)

Festive, refined and bright bottle.

Aspect:

Copper-coloured, thanks to the sensual blending of 85% of white wine of Pinot Noir and Meunier and 15% of red Coteau Champenois.

Delicate bubbles.

Elegant bead of foam.

Nose:

Radiant and endless sarabande of fragrances of nice ripe red and black fruits (strawberry, raspberry, blackcurrant, blackberry and blueberry), intense and gourmet, underlined by sensual spices (liquorice and pepper), heady characteristic signs of the black varietals (Pinot Noir and Meunier).

Later, the Pinot Noir, selected in 2015 in the locality « Le Chalois » of the Grand Cru of Mailly-Champagne in the Mountain of Reims and vinified as red wine with maceration at 26 °C for 5 to 7 days after complete destemming, unveils all its aromatic potential.

Palate:

Dynamic opening, reinforced by the selection of the first juices (cuvée) during the pressing of the black grapes for the production of the white wine.

The mouth is revealed ample and generous, highlighted by a subtle effervescence and supported by the dosage with 9 g/L of sugar added at disgorgement.

Deliciously acidulous finish, driven by the red and black fruits, crunchy, barely spicy.

Remarkable length on the palate.

For this Brut Rosé, Patrick Manceaux, its producer, illustrates the full extent of his œnological talent producing a splendid traditionally blended rosé.

Ideal for your sunny aperitifs, on the terrace, or as a dessert, with a verrine of red fruits and mascarpone, for example.

Resolutely committed to a sustainable development approach to reduce the environmental footprint, certified High Environmental Value (HVE), Agnès and her brother Patrick Manceaux, heirs to 3 generations of wine growers, cultivate with care their 12 hectares vineyard planted with the 3 champenois varietals (45% Pinot Noir, 30% Meunier and 25% Chardonnay). Each year, Patrick Manceaux produces with accuracy around 90,000 bottles of a range of inspired champagnes, marketed under the brand created in 1947 by his father Roger.
